What an amazing place! I can hardly do it justice trying to explain. It's like a hidden temple in the jungle. The views are some of the best along the entire Pacific Coast. It's feels like you are deep in jungle, but all the amenities you could need are close by. With a o much to see right outside, you could spend your whole vacation at the house. If you're vacationing around Dominical and are lucky enough to be able to stay here I highly recommend it.

This is the real deal- paradise! The thought put into reconstructing this amazing and unique historic home in such an amazingly beautiful location will astound you. The owner and caretaker both were super nice and I ran into them on the way from town a couple times. Felt like I lived there. So glad I was able to experience and enjoy this incredible and beautiful home!

This home amidst the jungle and trees exceeded every expectation. Waking up to the sounds of distant crashing waves and birds singing a symphony in a chorus to the sunlight drifting through slatted windows was a spectacular start to every day. We made fresh coffee on the gas stove with a greca and sat upon the patio to be astounded at the profundity of our view of jungle, ocean and the distant Eastern horizon. Guests do need a four-wheel drive vehicle to reach the mountaintop above. We had a manual transmission and drove in 1st gear most of the way up the rocky and winding incline. Stop at the mini-super in Hatillo for almost every need and cook dinner in the perfectly appointed kitchen. The outdoor shower and swimming pool were the perfect compliments to this Sultan's quarters. We felt like royalty in the pillared bed and tiled floors. Believe us that the pictures do this paradise no justice. This residence comes with our absolute highest recommendation! Don't miss out on having Manuel, the onsite host, cook and serve an inspired and delicious dinner during your stay.

Very secluded with excellent views and outstanding hospitality. It was a trek to get to, but definitely worth it. We had the in home dinner that is offered and it was worth every penny. Highly recommend!

The drive up was FUN. Aside from the sneaky little bugs, the Joglo House was spacious, beautiful, scenic, and so much fun! Comfy bed, hot water makes the shower amazing, and we used the pool every day. There is a yoga pavilion on site as well. Manuel the caretaker is awesome. Definitely stop at a market for snacks and drinks, you might not want to make the curvy drive at night! We will definitely come back :)

A little paradise. The house was very beauutiful and the view was superb Monkeys and an agouti came by. We saw Toecans and a squirl in the tree in front of the terrace and beautiful little colourful frogs around the house.

Incredible. Very private, surrounded by rain forest. We saw toucans while getting massages on the wrap around porch, how sweet is that? Manuel, the care taker, arranged all our adventures for us (Fishing, zip line, massages). We also hired him to cook a private dinner for us one night, which was excellent, highly recommend. The house is so unique and the nature around it so captivating. Paradise.

Look no further and book this place!! It is absolutely magical, the perfect distance (~15 min drive) from the bustle of Dominical and close to other beaches and must-see sites. The views will take your breath away, and you’re guaranteed to see wildlife. The pool is awesome, too! I’m so glad we had Manuel cook us a meal. It was our best meal in Costa Rica, and he is a wealth of knowledge on the area.

If you're looking for tranquility, romance and pampering, this is the place!! My husband and I stayed here for one night on our way south during our 8 day honeymoon trip across Costa Rica. The drive up to it was a bit scary and most definitely requires a 4x4. It also has a bit of a climb up stairs after gat. Yet, for this villa and that view, I'd do it all again 10 times over. It far exceeded all of our expectations. We only had the one night there, but we were able to take advantage of everything they had to offer. First, the evening we arrived, Manuel personally cooked us a fabulous dinner in our Villa and served us out on the balcony. Not only was everything delicious, I'd say it was the best meal I had all week! Then, the next morning, I started my day off with a much needed full body massage. Again, it was right there in the villa. She did a wonderful job and it was worth every cent!! This place was definitely one of the highlighta of our trip. Our only regret was that we only booked one night. We will be back and we will definitely stay longer next time. You do not want to miss out on this fabulous spot.t

- d - - - d - Hands down one of the coolest places we've ever stayed!! You will definitely need 4-wheel drive to confidently navigate the roads - Manuel was amazing, he went above and beyond in helping us when we had car troubles our first night; he helped book us a hike of Catarata Diamante (Diamante Waterfall) which we HIGHLY recommend - We woke up shortly after sunrise every morning to the sound of the rain forest waking up, couldn't have asked for a better experience - Would recommend being home by dark whenever possible just because the road to/from the tree house can be tricky to navigate at night but we were comfortable doing so after a couple of trips up and down - Toucans galore - Amazing views - Our only regret was not taking the time to spend an entire day lounging in the Tree House!

What an experience! This place requires a car and 4WD, and is about 10 mins up a very winding well kept dirt/concrete road that is intimidating at first, but you will get used to it and learn to enjoy the jungle drive to the top of the mountain. Close enough to Dominical (about 20mins total), but if you don’t like driving at night (especially though the jungle), it will seem very secluded and might seem intimidating after a few drinks and a night out. I would suggest splitting time here and somewhere by the beach to have the best of both worlds. We typically drove home before dark and cooked dinner inside (it does get dark at about 5:30pm, fyi.). Besides the seclusion, this place is gorgeous and a tremendous value if you enjoy cooking, coffee with a view, and better than glamping (must like nature sounds). The sounds of the jungle will lure you to sleep safely, the outdoor shower is without comparison, and being in the middle of the jungle is romantic and exciting. The moving trees (happened on day 5) were a pleasant afternoon shower of friendly monkeys, the digital “clicking” sounds are beautiful poison dart frogs (not poison to humans though), and the toucans greeted us with our morning coffee. The tropical rainstorms are childlike, and the views of the canopy and ocean are epic. I hope they fix the lights on the walking path up to the home, as that was our only complaint/concern since there weren’t flashlights available.

Manuel was a great host! We stayed at the tree house for the first three days of our honeymoon and couldn't have made a better choice! We had Manuel cook us the most delicious dinner our night of arrival, that was definitely worth it. We went zip lining as well (arranged by Manuel). You MOST DEFINITELY need a 4x4 as the ride up is a steep one, but definitely worth it. The views were breath taking and relaxing. Also try to get the things you may need before you get to the designated meeting area so as soon you get there you can enjoy the property with no worries. We will definitely be visiting again, there's no doubt about it! Simply Beautiful! !!

This was the most amazing place. I cannot stress enough that if you are considering a trip to Dominical, or Costa Rica in general, THIS is the place you should stay. The house was amazing, a cool, clean, beautiful respite in the middle of the jungle, with the most epic view you could imagine. We saw more wildlife during our stay at the treehouse than we did visiting Manuel Antonio National Park! We saw monkeys, toucans, poison dart frogs, big toads, electric blue butterflies, and all sorts of other birds that I don't know the names of. Communication was fantastic. The road leading to the treehouse was steep and winding, definitely take their suggestion with an SUV, but made it seem like even more of an adventure and a special secret place to go to. Communication with Manuel was great. Everything worked well and was very clean and in good condition. I wish we could keep it a secret but that wouldn't to justice to what Alexander has created! Please book this house, you will not be sorry!

This place is a beautiful marriage of old world elegance and seclusion. The accommodations are beautifully crafted with comfortable modern upgrades. you’ll enjoy extreme privacy and endless views! We travelled as a couple and it was so lovely, but the property would also be great for small groups when paired with the other two-bedroom on-site villa. Also toucans. They best right front of the villas so you’re bound to be joined by the flock. Property caretaker Manuel is responsive and very helpful. Please note: this property is at the top of a steep hill, the 4X4 recommendation is no joke. Also because of its seclusion, and location, I’d recommend getting groceries, etc. beforehand.

Stop searching and book it. Rent a 4x4 and do it. You’re welcome! Tell the toucans we said hola!

Great location for wildlife viewing- we saw lots of toucans, a couple of coatis, and a sloth outside the house. Loved the deck for sitting and reading, and the outdoor shower was great. Local beaches were gorgeous. Appreciated Manuel’s advice and speedy communication. Would love to return.

If you are looking for an authentic experience where you're actually in the rainforest - stay at one of Alexander's treehouses! We enjoyed the incredible views, the long drive and how it felt like our own little world up on the hill. Communication was excellent even when we needed to check-in late at night. The caretaker, Manuel, was able to meet us and get us all settled in. Pictures don't do this place justice!

This place is AWESOME. We totally fell in love with it, and it sounds like we aren’t the only ones. The seclusion and privacy is glorious, the views are out if this world. I might mention that the private drive up to the house is not for the faint of heart.. and they aren’t kidding, you need a 4x4 ha! That said, my boyfriend had the time of his life driving up and down to the house. Additionally, we were impressed with the dinner Manuel prepared for us.. it was simple but so delicious and convenient our first night in. Highly recommend .. plus Manuel is just great in general! Better than we expected or imagined.. we will be back !

The Joglo house was so much more than we expected. The views, location, and seclusion were perfect. The host, Manuel, was terrific. He helps you with anything you need and responses were very quick and prompt. Manuel set up all our tours and excursions and they were all fabulous. The house has all amenities you would need for a secluded jungle house. The open concept was terrific, evening temperatures were comfortable, and we found the sounds of the jungle relaxing. We were there in the dry season and really didn’t notice the bugs. You just have to make sure you close all the windows and doors before you turn lights on in the evening. The road up to the house is quite steep and a 4x4 is required. However, the drive is not that hard. Most of it is paved you just have to take your time and use a lower gear (auto or manual). I would recommend (Hidden by Airbnb) for communicating with the host and the Waze app as a GPS for traveling around Costa Rica. Waze worked every time. (Hidden by Airbnb) maps not as good. Looking forward to staying here in the future.

The Joglo Tree House was everything we hoped it to be and more. My wife and I stayed for two nights and absolutely loved it. The views from the balconies were breathtaking, the plunge pool was perfect (even with the frog visitors at night), and the whole design of the place was spectacular. The bed was clean and comfortable and the outdoor shower was a great experience. Also the WiFi was fast and perfect during our stay. Checking-in with Manuel the caretaker was very easy. I will say it's quite a crazy drive to get to the house but Manuel did a great job guiding us there. Although it may not be necessary to have a 4x4, we were really glad we had one. He was also very easy to reach on airbnb messenger and (Hidden by Airbnb) . There is a full kitchen with all of the pots/pans and tools, but keep in mind if you will have to bring all of your own food, coffee, seasonings, and oil. I was really concerned about bugs, but if you are mindful to keep the doors closed at night, there were no bugs that bothered us at all. Overall we loved the Joglo Tree House and would highly recommend it for couples. Thank you very much, Alexander!

This is a truly unique space high on a hill in the forest overlooking the ocean. The tree house itself is beautiful with interesting woodwork features, good amenities and everything that you could want to really unplug from the grind of daily life. The shower and plunge pool are particularly excellent! The forest surrounds the house and is full of life. The sunsets viewed from the balcony are fantastic. At night you can hear the life in the forest all around. We also had some frogs or toads visit us each night to chill in the pool. We quickly got used to the sounds the insects and animals made at night. We loved getting up for breakfast in the morning, sitting out front and watching the toucans. The drive up to the tree house is not for the faint hearted! I couldn’t imagine doing it in anything other than a 4x4 (and I don’t think it would be possible) and even with a 4x4 it takes some getting used to as the road is narrow at stages. But you can manage that by planning your days to minimize the need to go back to the house and overall it’s a small price to pay for a really unique, charming location.

This space is extraordinary! The photos do not do it justice. The home is built with incredible artistry, and amazing attention to detail. Luxurious touches everywhere. Enjoy a warm bath on the deck, or a cool dip in the small pool -- both surprises to us. The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing dinners. Morning coffee and breakfast on the deck with lots of birdsong and toucan. Be prepared to 4X4 it up the steep, winding road. The space is magical. Manuel was very kind and responsive, especially considering we had to continuously push our arrival time back due to setbacks on our drive from Monteverde. This is an excellent value for the price.

Really spacious and well decorated house. All the comfort is there, and even more ! Stuning view on the forest and sea, and amazing sunrises ! Dirty road to enter this paradise, so if you are not confident with this king of road, I recommand to bring some goods and fresh food before check in. Don't forget to bring a bed net, this is the only disadvantage of the house, when the night comes, mosquitos comes to ;) We spent some great time in Joglo, and enjoying the fresh water of the swiming pool with Toucan at 5 meters from us will be one of the best memory here ! Manuel will be really attentive to all of your needs ! thank you ;)

This place is truly amazing!!! Romantic, quiet, beautiful, surrounded by jungle and a view for days. We stayed two nights during our week in Costa Rica and it was by far the highlight of our trip! Definitely get a 4x4 during the rainy season. We did not have one and it was fine, very steep but manageable if you are brave :)

I can't begin to explain what a breathtaking place this is to stay in! The place was exquisite and the decor was perfectly simple (but classy and high quality) in order to the let the tree house shine. The view was glorious and the outdoor shower really made you feel one with nature. The wrap around deck gave me the perfect vehicle for wildlife watching, with many different species spotted including (Who I believe to be) a resident Coati who looks like an old fellow with a lot of grey face fur and I think a bit of trouble seeing. Manuel was kind and accommodating and we felt very taken care of without any feeling of intrusion. As friends, we enjoyed our stay very much, but it would also make for an extremely romantic getaway as well. The wifi was very strong and the spacious desk could make remote working very comfortable The tree house was absolutely spotless and obviously well taken care of. Wit (Website hidden by Airbnb) vehicle there was no issue getting to and from with less than a 10 minute drive to the closest town. The kitchen is very well equipped but only basics like salt and pepper are provided as condiments so make sure you have all the ingredients you need. One of the most amazing places I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. I highly recommend and plan to return!

This was such a wonderful stay. Try to get there early to go up the hill in the daylight, its not so bad once you do it a few times. Other than that, the location was perfect and waking up every day to that view will be something we will miss.

Absolutely stunning house with a once in a lifetime jaw dropping view and setting! Several Toucans came and perched in the tree just off the deck, the plunge pool was perfect for cooling off in the hot afternoons, the sunsets were mesmerizing. So remote, so high up on the mountain, which truly brings the feeling of being away from it all.

What a gorgeous villa! So secluded with amazing view of the ocean and tropical forest! Every detail in the house is very well thought of, no wonder that the owner is an architect. Outdoor shower, pool, bath tub are incredible, you are really feel connected to the nature. Sleeping among jungle sounds was amazing experience and very relaxing. Love this place!

The house was absolutely beautiful! And the wildlife around was amazing too, we saw so much. The pool was gorgeous to sit in of an evening or first thing in the morning or anytime really! Manuel was helpful too. It is a must not a recommendation that you have a 4x4 car to get there, we were lucky in that a tour agency was happy to pick us up and take us back but it would’ve been extremely difficult otherwise so please make sure you have a car to take you there. Also make sure you have WiFi before you go as Manuel sends a message to check when you’re close, we had arranged a time the day before but I didn’t have WiFi on the day we were arriving so hadn’t received his message and had to wait a bit. I’d highly recommend that you stay here, it’s better than you’d ever imagine!

Oh, just stop looking and book this place! It is pure magic! My wife and I spent four nights here last week, and I am still feeling withdrawal symptoms after leaving the Joglo Tree House. If a clean, serene respite is what you need, then this is it. I was tempted to spend whole days in the tree house alternately reading, napping, and watching the wildlife all around, but my wife really wanted to get out and do things. We made easy day trips to various attractions --- Manuel Antonio National Park, white water rafting on the Naranjo River, a tour of a spice plantation --- always gratefully and gleefully returning to the sanctuary offered by the Joglo Tree House, where we could finally fully exhale, away from our busy life with work and kids. Some specifics: the bed is comfortably firm; the outdoor shower is lovely; a pair of black-mandibled toucans visited us every morning and afternoon; we hired Manuel, the poised and hospitable caretaker, to cook a delicious dinner for us one evening. I could go on and on...

Amazing views. Huge space. Very clean. The drive up is not for the faint of heart but is worthwhile. Lots to do in the area. Only 15 minutes from Dominical town center. Host is responsible and flexible about check in time, which is good since travel Times can vary greatly in Costa Rica.

Wow! That is all you’ll be saying during your stay at Alexander’s place. The villa is stunning and unlike lots of places which look better in photos, this villa is better in real life! Manuel is on hand and extremely helpful! We checked in without any problems on New Year’s Eve and first thing we did was poured ourselves some drinks and hit the plunge pool! Stock up beforehand as there’s not much nearby plus you won’t want to spend much time away from the house! We had such a fabulous stay, from drinking our first coffee on the veranda in the morning to sipping wine in the evening watching the sunset. This place is a total spoil and we will be sure to come back one day!

This place is incredible. The views around the porch are unlike anything else. The drive definitely requires a 4x4 but after a few times it becomes much easier. The view from the front of the sunset is one of the best views you will ever get and is not to be missed. The location is great to get to different places both north and south of the house. We had so much fun exploring the different beaches and area. One of the best places we have ever stayed.

This place is perfect! Perfect amount of seclusion balanced with a million dollar view and a house that is amazing! 4x4 is needed but don’t be intimidated, easy drive with easy access to town. But once you check in you won’t want to leave. There are even a few Toucans that like to visit the outdoor shower in the morning or the front patio area in the evening. You will not want to go home after staying here! Manuel is the best, he can get you settled plus he knows every where you would want to go.

Wow. The pictures do not do it justice. This is truly an amazing place in an incredible setting well worth the effort required to get there. We dined with the Toucans, Parrots and monkeys right on the front deck overlooking the Pacific. Hacienda Baru and Nauyaca waterfalls are definitely worth a visit - we hiked both. Hiking in Corcovado National Park - we went with our guide Risto from Bahia Adventuras - is absolutely not to be missed.

This place is way more beautiful in person. The pictures are amazing, but seeing it in person is breathtaking. Manuel, the caretaker, is very nice and helpful, and always available to answer and questions. There’s no need to go on tours to see animals, just sit out on the porch and they all come to you. The drive up the mountain is an adventure in itself, it may seem a little steep, but we had so much fun going up and down, and always saw something new along the way. Very private and secluded, but a short 10 minute drive to Dominical and the beach, restaurant, and bars are all right there. Highly recommended!!!!!

Absolutely amazing! The design of the space combined with the rainforest around it makes for an unbeatable combo. My husband and I went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon and thought this place seemed pretty neat in the pictures online. Pictures do not do it justice! Seriously a gorgeous house surrounded by the most beautiful views. Rodney was super helpful in getting us settled in and telling us about the area. I was a bit worried that the "open" setup of the house would mean lots of bugs but we really only saw a few. My husband is a wildlife ecologist and was thrilled at all the wildlife we saw around the property- dart frogs, geckos, toucans, monkeys, etc. The nearby towns felt a little empty and we sometimes had trouble finding an open restaurant, probably due to the fact we came during the off-season. Neither of us wanted to leave at the end of the trip and we hope to come back again someday!

If you are looking for a remote, and scenic Costa Rican experience... look no further. This was one of the best airbnb experiences I have had thus far! My boyfriend and I found exactly what we were looking for at the Joglo tree house! Our priorities were scenic views, remote with a reasonable distance to town, and close to local beaches and activities.... and we were not let down! Views- The view from that wrap around patio is breathtaking. We woke up to every morning to toucans, and other colorful wildlife right outside our window. We were concerned about the mosquitos, but the windows are completely protected from bugs and honestly were not at all bothered by mosquitos during our time in Dominical. Remote- Alexander owns a couple of houses on the property, but all are completely hidden from view! It is located about 10 minutes from town on the road, but is about another 10-15 minute drive up a steep path. I would 100% recommend a 4x4 car with a driver who is comfortable with steep, gravel roads. Although initially intimidated, our mountain drive became routine and we even spotted some wildlife along the way! Local activities- Once you are on the main road, I would recommend hitting up the following: Grocery stores- we found the most selection success with the BM in Uvita-15 minutes away Local cuisine- Soda Kem Vari -in uvita- 15 minutes away Manuel Antonio national park- 40 minutes away Nauyaca waterfalls- 30 minute drive Lastly, getting there... You have two options: 1. Flying into San Jose and driving 3 hrs on a paved interstate. 2. Flying into San Jose and then taking a puddle-jumper flight to quepos and then renting a car from there. My boyfriend and I decided on option 1 given the roads seemed paved and along the coast. I would recommend either based on budget and time constraints Our only regret is deciding to leave early and spend an evening in San Jose.... you can skip out on that.

This is a gorgeous getaway. Hidden in the jungle up a mountain and overlooking the sea. Impeccably designed to the highest standard. Its the perfect place to escape the modern world and sit on the terrace watching toucans and bats. I loved it. Make sure you bring plenty of provisions as there is nothing provided in the kitchen and the nearest shop is a steep 20 minute drive away. And you will not want to leave that terrace...

There are no words that can accurately describe the amazingness that is this place. Photos DO NOT do it justice. My wife and I were on our honeymoon for a few weeks in Costa Rica, and this was by far the most magical and amazing place in our travels. Communication was easy, the place was clean, the caretaker Rodney is super sweet, and if there is an availability and youre looking at this place, do not hesitate. Take it. The owner bought a 175 year old house in Indonesia, put it on a boat, and assembled it in the hills above Dominical. The care that went in to every detail is extraordinary. The outdoor shower nestled in the trees of the jungle is incredible. Waking up to macaws, monkeys, and toucans zipping through the jungle below as you look out over the pacific is a sight to behold. Only thing to note is that it is a little tricky to get up and down the mountain. So plan ahead, and bring all of your groceries that you plan on cooking. Additionally, arrive to the house during the daylight hours; it's much easier to find :) Thank you Alex!

Wow. The pictures dont do justice to how beautiful both the house and the view are. Such a well appointed cabin with anything you might need. We could have spent days in the refreshing plunge pool and shower. Toucans and monkey sightings rounded out our belated honeymoon stay. Can't wait to get back here!

This place is amazing! A beautiful house, made with real craftsmanship in wood work. The place was much bigger then we thought it would be from the pictures and the details are made in perfection. The location is quite far up the road in the forrest, so you're in the middle of all the wild life (frogs, sloths, toekans, iguana's, monkeys and much more). Communication is perfect and you're left with all the privacy you could wish for. We enjoyed the view over the jungle and the pacific ocean!

Amazing experience! The treehouse is beautifully placed in a semi-remote area in Dominical. The views are phenomenal and the whole experience is just unreal. Alex and his team were great, very nice guys who genuinely care. Easy to talk to and helped us plan a couple additional items. Thank you!

The Joglo Tree House was a life-altering experience. This was my first visit to Costa Rica~ with my husband and toddler~ and I cannot be more happy that we chose to stay at this incredible property. High end finishes abound in an architecturally stunning home. The sounds of the jungle and the ocean carried us off to sleep at night. The jungle is dense and there were poison dart frogs, insects, birds, snakes, frogs around the property~ but they keep their distance and gave us a real Costa Rican experience!!! Alexander, Rodney and Golin were a phenomenal team who cared very well for us~ from initial inquiries about trip planning, to help with laundry, luggage, answering questions about the area, etc. I am certain you will enjoy your time in this paradise: GO! AT ONCE!
